FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga and BSI Affirm Commitment to Inclusive Education through the Symbolic Handover of an Inclusion Scholarship

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM) of UIN Sunan Kalijaga received the symbolic handover of the Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Inclusion Scholarship at an event held at the Interactive Center Room, FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga, on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. On this occasion, FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga was represented by Vice Dean III, Dr. Rama Kertamukti, while BSI was represented by Desy Septianie, Branch Manager of KCP Ambarukmo, and Hari Nopa Kurniawan, Area Manager for Yogyakarta.

The event marked a collaborative effort between a higher education institution and an Islamic financial institution in supporting the strengthening of inclusive education on campus. The symbolic handover of the scholarship reflected not only financial support for students but also a shared commitment to expanding fairer, more accessible, and more sustainable access to higher education.

Through this program, BSI seeks to create sustainable social benefits, in line with the principles of Islamic banking, which emphasize public welfare, care, justice, and empowerment. This scholarship is expected to provide meaningful support for students in inclusion programs, enabling them to pursue their studies with stronger support and within an academic environment that is increasingly responsive to their potential and needs.

Representing FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga, Dr. Rama Kertamukti emphasized that support for inclusion students constitutes an important part of the institutional responsibility of higher education. In his view, universities should not merely provide access to admission, but must also ensure the availability of support systems that enable all students to develop optimally within an inclusive and humane academic environment.

From BSI’s perspective, the provision of the Inclusion Scholarship reflects the institution’s commitment to generating direct social impact in the field of education. The program demonstrates that Islamic banking is not solely oriented toward financial services, but also toward strengthening social values through support for groups that require greater facilitation and institutional attention in pursuing higher education.

The symbolic handover also underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building an inclusive educational ecosystem. Higher education institutions play a role in creating open and supportive learning spaces, while Islamic financial institutions can contribute through relevant, targeted, and sustainable social responsibility programs.

FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga welcomed this partnership as a positive step toward strengthening a campus culture that is more inclusive and responsive. Looking ahead, similar collaborations are expected to continue expanding so that more students can receive concrete support to pursue higher education with dignity, equality, and competitiveness.

Through this occasion, FISHUM UIN Sunan Kalijaga and Bank Syariah Indonesia jointly reaffirmed that inclusion is not merely a normative idea, but a commitment realized through concrete action to deliver sustainable social benefits for students and society.
