Yogyakarta - The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM) of State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held an annual activity "International Jogja Youth Camp (Enjoy Camp) in 2024". This event was held on 11 to 13 December 2024 which was attended by UIN Sunan Kalijaga students from various elements, including representatives from Student Organizations (Ormawa) and other Academic Communities. The opening of Enjoy Camp 2024 this time also presented Hasan Nasbi, S.I.P as the Head of the Presidential Communication Office of the Republic of Indonesia as a guest speaker at a seminar with the theme "Astacita and Indonesian Transformation: Building a National Narrative for the Future". The opening ceremony took place at the Conference Room on the 1st floor of Fishum.
Dr. Mochamad Sodik S,Sos, M.Si, as Vice Rector II of UIN Sunan Kalijaga, said in his speech "Astacita has become a foundation for us, at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, especially in point number 1. Pancasila and Islamic studies are always open and not finished in conversation, but have become the daily practice of the academic community". Vice Rector II also explained that Fishum always explores and studies discourses related to diversity and tolerance. According to him, the narrative of nationality and Pancasila must continue to be voiced by young people.
At the same time, Dr. Erika Kusumaputri, S.Psi, M.SI., as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, said "Through the agenda that we have designed, this event is a strategic forum in building critical and constructive dialogue as a space that provides opportunities for youth to talk about multiculturalism". Dr. Erika said that the theme of this seminar is a good theme because it brings up issues that are quite strategic for young people. For her, Enjoy Camp is not just an event, but also a platform for thought transformation and networking among youth.
Continuing with the seminar session, Hasan Nasbi said that the current condition of the nation is in a very drastic change in communication. This greatly affects our cognitive mindset. "Our nation is facing changes in communication patterns, in the past we could only absorb information from television or radio, and the information was not ours to manage, it all depended on the television. Now all the information we want can be freely selected. Especially with algorithms, it's as if the world we see is just that," he explained.
Hasan also emphasized that due to the current interconnectivity, the Indonesian nation is very susceptible to Disruption. "So much information comes into our heads, from gadgets that are as big as the palm of our hands, we absorb information here and there, whether it is true or not the information enters our heads, whether it is true or not we get angry," he said. Therefore, Hasan emphasized that we must revive information that has benefits and distribute it as widely as possible as a mitigation step in dealing with Disinformation, Slander and Hatred (DSH).
During the question and answer session, Hasan explained more about how dependence on algorithms can be a double-edged knife, and why optimism for the nation's narrative must be revived in the public sphere. "Whatever happens, optimism for nationality must be built" was the closing message in the seminar session. (red)
