In preparation for the establishment of a Psychology Study Program at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Adab, and Dakwah (FUAD) of the State Islamic University (UIN) Palangka Raya, a delegation of faculty officials conducted a working visit to the Psychology Study Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, on Wednesday (October 29, 2025).

The visit aimed to gather information, references, and best practices regarding the administration of a Psychology program to support the drafting of a proposal for the new study program at FUAD UIN Palangka Raya.

Opening the session, the Vice Dean for General Administration, Planning, and Finance of FISHUM, Dr. Astri Hanjarwati, highlighted the smooth journey of establishing the Master of Psychology program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

“We are deeply grateful; when we established the Master of Psychology program, we passed without revision. Essentially, Division II focuses on supporting facilities and funding during the program establishment process,” she stated.

The Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation of FISHUM, Dr. Rama Kertamukti, expressed his hope that this visit would serve as a forum for inter-faculty exchange.

“We hope that through this visit, we can share knowledge regarding the establishment process,” he said.

From FUAD UIN Palangka Raya, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Yatin Mulyono, emphasized that this visit represented full support for the plan to establish the Psychology Program.

“Our presence here is to support the plan to establish a Psychology Study Program at FUAD UIN Palangka Raya,” he remarked.

During the sharing session, the Secretary of the FISHUM Psychology Program, Fitriana Widyastuti, M.Psi., Psychologist, explained the distinctive characteristics of the Psychology Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

“What distinguishes our psychology program from others is the inclusion of Islamic studies as a hallmark of UIN, such as the psychology of Sufism (Tasawuf), Islamic psychology, and others,” she elaborated.

The Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of FISHUM, Ambar Sari Dewi, Ph.D., also shared strategies to ensure the new program proposal passes without revision.

“The steps we took included seeking opinions from internal assessors and then fulfilling all requirements without leaving any section blank. Equally important is ensuring that all lecturers are registered in SISTER (Integrated Resource Information System),” she noted.

The Head of the Islamic Guidance and Counseling Study Program at FUAD UIN Palangka Raya, Arini Safitri, M.Psi., Psychologist, revealed that their campus had received approval to open the new program this year.

“This year, we received the green light from the Rector to open the new program, and the proposal is complete,” she clarified.

Through this visit, UIN Palangka Raya hopes to gain valuable insights to finalize the planning for the Psychology Program at FUAD. This meeting also serves as an initial step in strengthening the academic network between the two universities.
