Nordina Yunira and Novita Sari, Master’s Student in Media and Communication at FISHUM, Wins Best Speaker Award at KOMUNIKA 2026

A proud achievement has been attained by Nordina Yunira and Novita Sari, students of the Master’s Program in Media and Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISHUM), who received the Best Speaker award at the 2026 National Conference of Communication Science Students (KOMUNIKA). The award was granted in recognition of Nordina’s ability to present academic ideas systematically, demonstrate strong mastery of her research substance, and deliver high-quality scholarly communication during the presentation session.

KOMUNIKA 2026 was organized by the Communication Science Study Program of Universitas Tribhuwana Tunggadewi (UNITRI) on June 17–18, 2026, in Malang. Carrying the theme “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Communication,” this national forum served as an academic space for students from various universities to present their research findings, discuss the development of artificial intelligence technologies, and examine their implications for communication, media, and social life.

At the forum, Nordina Yunira presented her research entitled “Dynamics of Productivity and Academic Integrity: Ethics of Using ChatGPT in Scientific Writing among Master’s Students in Media and Communication.” The study addresses an issue that is highly relevant to current developments in higher education, particularly the use of generative artificial intelligence in academic writing processes.

Through this research, Nordina highlighted the relationship between increasing academic productivity and the importance of maintaining scholarly integrity amid the growing use of ChatGPT. This topic is significant because artificial intelligence not only offers technical assistance in the preparation of academic works, but also raises ethical challenges related to originality, academic responsibility, transparency in technology use, and students’ critical thinking skills.

The Best Speaker Award at KOMUNIKA 2026 received by Nordina and Novita Sari demonstrates that students of the Master’s Program in Media and Communication are capable of actively participating in national discourse on artificial intelligence and the future of communication. This achievement also emphasizes the importance of students’ ability not only to produce relevant research, but also to communicate academic findings in a clear, persuasive, argumentative, and responsible manner.

KOMUNIKA 2026 featured a number of academics and practitioners who discussed artificial intelligence, digital literacy, communication ethics, and media industry strategies amid technological disruption. The forum also included student research presentations, academic discussions, and the selection of outstanding presenters as a form of appreciation for the quality of participants’ ideas and scholarly communication skills.

Novita Sari and Nordina Yunira’s participation in KOMUNIKA 2026 represents part of the contribution of the Master’s Program in Media and Communication in responding to contemporary developments in communication studies. Through involvement in a national academic forum, students gain opportunities to expand academic networks, exchange ideas with participants from various campuses, and strengthen their research capacity in addressing communication challenges in the era of artificial intelligence.

This achievement is expected to motivate other students to continue developing research that is critical, relevant, and beneficial to society. Amid the acceleration of digital transformation, studies on the ethics of AI use in academic practice are becoming increasingly important so that technology can be utilized productively without neglecting the values of integrity, scholarly honesty, and social responsibility.
